It seems that not all S8 models were restricted to the low ASA films; I own a few S8 cameras and some can read speeds of up to ASA 200 for daylight film. The existance of a grey filter for higher aperture numbers I can not confirm at all. There is no device to help focusing except two lights that come up for certain meter ranges.
