Yashica[edit]

Yashica was a Japanese manufacturer of cameras, active from 1945 to 2005 and from 2008 to present day.

  • It was an independent company from 1945 up to 1983 when it was absorbed by Kyocera Corporation (Japan) who halted production in 2005.
  • In 2008, branded cameras reappeared produced by MF Jebsen Group (Hong Kong) under its subsidiary JNC Datum Tech International, Limited.
  • In 2015, trademark rights were transfered to Yashica International Company Limited.

  • 1945 May: Yashima Seiki Seisakusho (八洲精機製作所)
  • 1949 December: Yashima Seiki K.K. (八洲精機㈱)
  • 1953 June: Yashima Kōgaku Seiki K.K. (八洲光学精機㈱, Yashima Optical Precision Instruments)
  • 1956: Yashima Kōgaku Kōgyō K.K. (八洲光学工業㈱, Yashima Optical Industries)
  • 1958: K.K. Yashica (㈱ヤシカ, Yashica Co., Ltd.)

Subsidiaries[edit]

  • 1957: foundation of Yashica, Inc. (New York), subsidiary in USA.
  • 1959 - 1968 April: Taihō Kōgaku K.K. (大邦光学㈱, Taihō Optical) after acquiring Nicca Camera company, which was latter merged into the main company.
