"Soligor" was used as a brand name by the distributor Allied Impex Corporation, USA, since 1956. The company founded a German sub-company called A.I.C. Phototechnik GmbH in 1968, that became Soligor GmbH in 1993. The Soligor GmbH was still active in 2010 while the operations of the US-based companies seem to be reduced to being the owner of the Soligor GmbH. However in 2011 Soligor filed insolvency. As a result the brand-name got sold to a company called "Sphere Vertriebs GmbH".
