I got to shoot on one of these cameras for a short period of time. It has a unique internal mechanism that requires you to pull out some of the film and make loops like you do with a 16mm camera, this and the actual pressure plate and registration pin allow for a very steady image. It can record sound internally on an SD card and has a phantom-powered XLR input. The LCD screen is okay but it would be nice to have an SDI out to attach an EVF. I am a fan of Logmar and their passion, and it was fun to shoot with this beast, but I kept finding myself asking "why would someone pay $6000 for this?" Super8 is not supposed to be the format to film big-budget movies in. If there's a point in which Logmar can make these for a more affordable price (like under $1000) then I would be more interested, but a whole $6k I could spend on a Red One kit or any 16mm/35mm camera kit and have some money left over.

I am happy though that Logmar has inspired Kodak to make a new S8 camera that is much more affordable.

I am happy though that Logmar has inspired Kodak to make a new S8 camera that is much more affordable.
